good morning!
This is the dilemma for living in Toronto - when you go out at this time of year do you pretend it’s not icy and freezing and wear cute shoes, or are you real about the whole ‘frozen tundra’ scenario outside your window and wear winter boots to the bar.
I used to just be in denial about winter and wear whatever cute shoes I wanted (I would have a sacrificial pair of shoes every winter - I knew they would die an unhappy death in a snow drift - but someone had to pay for the bad weather and it was not going to be my style.)
Now, I just wear the ugliest boots in the world out - totally not giving a care (okay caring a bit, but wearing the ugly boots anyway). No more snowdrift frozen tundra denial.

It’s been awhile since I posted a page right out of my sketchbook. Here is one I just found. I have no idea what I was working on, but I think it was something for Torontoist.
So sketchbooks. I am compulsive about them. I am not a particular person ( I’m sort of a mostly easy going person) except when it comes to my sketchbooks. I have some severe loyalty in the art supply store. I have weird rules! Like: I can’t buy a sketchbook with any kind of drawing or photo on it - it kind of freaks me out to have someone else’s work where I am trying to think up ideas. messed up!
I love the Leuchttrum1917 books (haven’t tried them? DO IT). I also love these all water-colour paper ones that have a coil spine that I get at gwartzman’s on spadina. They are like 9 dollars and come with this really crummy paintbrush, but the paper is really great and they are fabric-wrapped cobalt blue, which is awesome. They have no brand name (mysterious) or else I would tell you what it is!
Anyway, I am really weird about sketchbooks.

to the fashionable rescue!
I did this little icon for a london-based personal stylist.
I know it’s counter-cultural, but I think it’s awesome when logo’s don’t have words.

I love when a crummy sketch kind of turns into a magical awesome idea. I have no magical awesome ideas this week (only crummy sketches). sigh.

okay want to test my very first flash video game?
I uploaded it last night - if you play it, can you email me (hi@kyrakendall.com) and tell me if anything didn’t work? Then I can fix whatever problems you had with it.
